Our guild, which was founded in 1381, consists of 85 members , who are happy to share their passion for traditional crossbowshooting, to show their museum or explain their history, namely that of the oaths of crossbowmen, defenders of the city of Brussels.

Through its museum, the guild assures the conservation of weapons and about 1500 objects related to the past and the present of the Brussels crossbowmen. But contrary to the practices of any other museum, generations after generations, the companions continue the shooting with the old crossbow and transmit their knowledge concerning its construction, repair and handling.
The crossbowmen have at their disposal twelve shooting stands for training or friendly matches. A lot of shooters also participate in tournaments with other societies and in national and international championships.

The museum, which welcomes between three and five thousand visitors per year, is open to the public, free of charge, on Thursday evenings and during the events of the Brussels museums such as late evening openings or the springs of the museums. Visits of groups, companies or schools can be organized on request.
As the companions attach a lot of importance to keeping their tradition of welcome, it is a great pleasure for them to unhook a crossbow and to introduce our one evening guests to that shooting, which they can practice afterwards with a weapon of another century.

In addition to crossbowshooting the companions participate in numerous folkloric and historical processions, the summit of which being the annual participation in the Ommegang, which was recreated by the Brussels crossbowmen in 1930.
Each year our guild welcomes new members whose skills are quickly discovered and emphasized. After their training, they will become companions and being companion is also enjoying the relaxed atmosphere of a Thursday night in a timeless place...
